I erased by mistake the original post, but so there is a closed loop, here is how the story goes in summary.
I love pick-up trucks; the reason for the infatuation is not sure. I have moved a lot, but it’s also the western cow-boyish charm that the pick-trucks have. The southern soul within me loves it! Since I most likely can’t afford to buy one for myself just yet, I decided I could rent one while on my work travel at Georgia.
I got to the airport and saw a white pick-up truck. My first thought was “Screw finding prince charming on a white-horse, just give me a cowboy on a white pick-up truck”. Then my second thought, why wait for a man?
So, I rented that white, humongous, RAM 1500 pick-up truck.
I took one picture with my phone, trying to dissimulate a bit. Hopped in, put one bag on the back, and managed the rest inside. Went to the exit booth and I got all chatty and smiley. Then I heard the guy say thanks and the platform slamming to the ground.
Since the truck was so tall you can't really see what is right in front. So I push the accelerator.
I BROKE the mechanical arm!
The guy didn’t, couldn’t let me go and got the manager, who was really just a kid. I argued with the manager about the insurance. He said I didn’t have or that my company constantly changes the insurance, I just said we did and to please go check on the system. I was right all along, or he was scared of me. He came back all happy and apologetic, “You are all set.”
Thankfully the truck didn't even get a scratch. I managed to drive up to Liz’s’ place to get the rest of my things. When I got off and then back in, the truck wouldn’t start. I later had a hysterical brake down. She got me out of the truck, hopped in and figured what was wrong. Sometimes trying to put the wrong key just doesn’t work for it. The truck uses a beeper-like key and not the actual key itself. Confusing, I know. Then after that, the parking place was terrible but we managed. After getting our life updated I got the remainder of the bags on the back of the pick-up truck. Spent the whole ride between laughing and crying, what else can go wrong? Right? Murphy’s Law or Laughs!
It is almost 11:00 PM and I am on my way to the new hotel in Chamblee, rather than going back to Norcross and guess what happens? It starts raining.
I thought I had given up on the rest of the night, but I was famished. Saw an Arbys, and thought it was good idea to buy food there since it was the only thing open at the moment. It was horrible, I can’t even describe it. It just had all the elements I would never put into my sandwich.
I finally get to my new place, which is like a hotel, but not really, it is more like a two-story apartment, which means, no elevator for five bags! Five, wet bags...
Upside of the nightmare, the new place rocks and I have a bad-ass truck for a week, I am definitely returning it back. I jumped into that sweet king size bed until the following morning.

Hola! Hello! Ciao!
Hi
there World!
In
Summary, I wished for a job that allowed me to travel and hard work granted it
to me. I travel for work and also at my own pocket expense for pleasure. I have
been to a lot of places; I was born in Puerto Rico and three months later my
travels started, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma, then back to
Puerto Rico. Then my parents got divorced, and my father, a Military man fed my
passion to travel. I visited him every free time I had off from school since I
was seven. I would travel alone or with the flight attendant. A different
place every year or two, and the wonders of seeing new things and meeting new
people grew exponentially.
So,
here I am, 25 year old curvy Latina, graduated from electrical engineering
with a minor in Italian Language. I am working in an aerospace company,
divorced and single, ready to mingle! (Well not ready to mingle just yet). But
I am ready for Travels!
I
always end up breaking something, or bumping into odd situations, so that will
be my main focus for this blog, as well as documenting my trips for memorabilia, an online scrapbook.
Follow
me on instagram #islandgirloncoldweather or #islandgirltravels
There
might be an #islandgirlsatvegas from my latest trip!
Ciao!
Audrey
