This Weekend Preview.... Go Red Sox!

This weekend, Jojo, Pocho and me will be meeting up with my cousin CinRose up north! At the great city of Boston! Even though she is a "Boston resident", she roots for the Yankees (boo!). But, I love and forgive her, specially when she is taking us to a game!

I got my jersey on the mail yesterday. I honestly thought it wouldn't arrive on time. She has threaten me to leave me stranded, but I know she loves me too!

We will be also be hitting the breweries (Samuel Adams and Harpoon). How can I go to Boston and NOT visit the breweries?!

We fly tonight from Atlanta, and we leave straight from our jobs! Very excited!

Amicalola Falls State Park

Simply Beautiful and quite a work-out!

We went last Sunday (06/23/2013) and between the hike and the views I am not sure what took my breath away. A lot of stairs to go up to! Along the way we saw Bambi! A very young deer and also a snake. We were very grateful not to see a bear. The lodge at the end of the trail looked pretty nice, and had a spectacular view. Would love to stay in someday. It seemed there was a wedding going on. It took us about 2 hours to drive from Norcross up to there, but it was worth it.

Looking forward to going again!

Back To Georgia!

Road trip concluded last night. It was awesome. I had the perfect companion. We talked the whole way! Or sang.

Cheers for more trips to come!

Glad to be back "home".

There ain't nothing sweeter than Georgia Peaches!

Lousiana

Checked out of the Hotel.

Got to Louisiana! (Bossier City!).

Hugged my baby sisters! Trip is already worth it.

And it  is quite obvious but I still love the facts that everywhere I get
too see the fleur de lis. They are on tattoos, items and jewelry everywhere.
I am proud I have had self control! (on that subject). Bath and Body works and Charming Charlie is a different story!

On the road to Bossier City

Picked up Yuanivel and we got stuck on the  fabulous Georgia Traffic, no surprise there. What was supposed to be a nine hour drive has converted to a much longer voyage and we have changed to Central Time Zone.

We have passed Alabama and we are currently in Mississippi, close to Louisiana, I think. I say Yuani needs to take an i-photography class but she differs. We didn't get a decent "Welcome to the state" picture on this round. Hopefully on our way back we will.

We have eaten so many candies we have sugar rush and soon to crash. We have sang to BSB, spice girls and country music. Plus we tried to practice our italian which it is not as fair as we thought we had it.

It has been a bumpy ride but blessed with a great weather. No rain or strong winds that could flip the Kia Soul so far.  However, I drove a while with the emergency breaks on and thought we had a flat tire. We got down and it smell like burnt rubber but found it was that Yuani had pulled it on when I pumped gas.  I never put the  breaks on. It was funny because I panicked for about 5 seconds until I heard how calm she was. We will just stop and change the tire with   the replacement. I felt safe and it was all an experience.

We reduced time, it has been an average of 70 mph but we have about 3.5 more hours to go.

Sugar rush is crashing us. So we gave up! We got too tired!  We found a hotel that I could redeem with my reward points, using 1/4 of the total amount I have, it is a no brainer decision.

Hopefully by tomorrows sunshine I will be holding my baby sisters! Can't wait!

I did it Again... Emerald Disgrace for me

Im always battling with my car rental company, National. Wether is for the emerald club status, scratches on the cars or crashing into mechanical arms (yes, read about the RAM incident). I have done a lot of questionable things.

Decided to exchange my car, again, for something smaller. Since I took out of my system the huge pick-up truck, and have no regrets but also good stories like the Mechanical-arm incident. After that, decided to trade RAMY for Barnella, a cute purple GMC Terrain. She had a rear view camera, bluetooth, USB port, very nice! Then for the Las Vegas trip, last memorial weekend, handed Barnella in and upon return took an orange Dodge Journey.

I was not pretty happy about it, Liz can contest to that since she patiently waited as I took forever to choose a car. It didn't have the rear view camera or bluetooth, this gal has been spoiled lately. However, it did have an extra row of seats (which did come in handy for the Six Flags trip) ant it had a very useful passenger sit compartment to hide purses or other items if needed. It also came with three keeys, but it worked with a push button. Just needed to get close to the car with a key in my purse or pocket and it would unlock the doors! Push the break pedal with the on-button and it  would turn on. One thing was for sure, the gas on these late SUV's are a lot to pay for! Yuani and I dance down in Atlanta, which on a good "traffic free" day or night it's 35 minute commute, remind yourself I did say Atlanta. Gas can be up to $65.00 weekly for those vehicles, altough for me is on the company expensep for now.

I'm  planning to visit my baby sisters during this weekend and they live in Louisiana, which is about a nine hours driving. Yuanivel has so kindly "offered" to make me company. (I asked Juan-the-hubby, and he said it was okay! *happy dance*). We needed a more gas-effective car. Once out of state, gas payment is on my own expense.

If you read "Murphys biggest laugh to the caribbean cowgirl", you are acquainted with the mechanical-arm and RAM incident. Soon after that, is where Barnella came in. In that case I wanted another SUV that was much more fancier and the one left was only for Executive Elite status, per the person on that shift that night, I was not yet Elite. That night I had lost the receipt they gave me upon the car exchange, got hell that night. (Lesson learned, must collect and save all receipts!). Frustrated enough, left the car rental "stuck" with Barnella, but quickly fell for all of her charms. Before all that, I had another minor incident where an improper light post scratched my previous car at the time, which I can't remember what it was, most likely another SUV.

Repeating once more to emphasize, I'm always battling with the car rental company, always calling to see if they have a Kia Soul. Back in the days I co-owned one, a pretty black Soul with sun-roof with my Ex and he lost our Tinkermobile as we nicknamed it. More like it got stolen from him, (that is another story for another blog) but its dead gone, nowhere to be ever found. Then, during my time at Olathe, Kansas, rented a white Kia Soul that was located on the Alamo rental side. That was during my first trip with my current position and new group of the "Engineers Traveling Supporters",  (Thinking about we should change our  team name to that). Point is, the car gets filled with $35.00, it is not a car, not yet a small SUV, it's a cute hatch-back. Don't you  just love the awesome commercial with the mice too?

Now, the latest and greatest questionable thing I have done, wait for it... here it goes:

Went with Yuani to dance class at Atlanta and from there I went to the national rent center to exchange the car (yup, all sweaty and with my gym clothes). I make calls about the elite emerald club status and receive no straight answers, arrive to be bounced from side to side like always and continue to fight about the elite status with nothing being found in the system. I knew time was about to get wasted and still asked about the Kia Soul. Their response was that Souls are mostly from the Alamo side. My eyes popped and the guy said I would be stretching it if I tried, eyes popping changed to a different kind. I'm very stubborn, if you don't know me personally, that is when I proceeded the hunting for cars through the whole lot and I found a Kia Soul!

Texted Yuani and JoeJoe about my triumph and managed to get safely home feeling all victorious. When I turn out the key , as I haven't been doing lately since being used to semi-fancy Dodge Journey, a sudden memory hit me! Crap, I had left two of the three keys at the hotel! Chamblee is 30 minutes away!

Texted JoeJoe and he responded with a very non-comforting answer. He needs to learn pep-talk. As I'm writing this post from my cellphone a 404 area code appears on my phone, darn it! I knew  it was from national and it all gets far more interesting.  Guess what? The madame tells me they can't move the car because   there are no keys to which I replied "Ma'm, I have two of the three keys and I will take them back tomorrow!" but she insisted that there was none. As we where talking I checked my purse, oh chaiza! I do have all three keys! At least I didn't loose my seashell key-chain as I thought I did five minutes ago.

It Is 11:00 PM and she is asking if I can go take the keys back. Really?! I added that I'm under contract until August and going nowhere anytime soon. She saw on my record that I was from Puerto Rico and she said "Im from St. Thomas". I humbly and embarrassedly  replied , "We sure are long way home". She then asked me sweetly to take back the keys tomorrow. I guess us Islanders have to watch for each other!
God bless our warm hearts.

What a night!

I shall name him Kiko!

Joe-Joes pep-text.

Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain, Georgia is a beautiful and must-do activity while in Georgia.

It has many advantages as an out-door hangout or date. I want to go there every Sunday if I can.

I have decided I must buy a Fanny Pack because of trips like the late ones. It is so much convinient to have in there your camera or phone. Hands-free are necessary for hiking, specially on Stone Mountain, yes, it is a mountain of stone, some might find that amusing.

Running, walking, or hiking the mountain is tiring but rewarding. The whole Park has many things to do and see, and in my last two trips I am pretty sure I have not seen it completely. I will go again, therefore we decided to buy the annual parking pass. It's only 35 dollar, the one-day parking is 10. Tennis shoes, and sport clothes should also be kept in mind.

My new challenge is try to run more than a minute up-hill. Didn't know about the hiking trails you start on the Stone Mountain view, and today we did the Cherokee trail. Very pretty, full of nature and so many shades of green that went attuned with the singing birds.

I keep wondering if I should go up the mountain chewing gum to contribute with the bubble-gum light posts that are along the way. Ver disgustingly colorful.

There was a lightning storm warning, but we went anyways and we did fine. Decided to have a snack, up at the top of the mountain shop and to go down on the Sky bucket, very wise decision as it started to pour rain a few minutes after the bucket touched floor.

This mini trip culminated my friend Elsita visit, with Pocho and Joe Joe. Me and my other friends had her jumping and running back and forth sinced she arrived to Atlanta on Thursday. Yuanivel took her to CNN tour and I catched up with them on Coca-Cola World. On Friday I had a Pure Romance Party where Yuanivel also did a Mary Kay presentation. Lizbeth and Elsa came along to help, as so did Jessica for a while. Elsa, Lizbeth  and I joined our friend Nelson for some late night salsa dancing. On Saturday, we spent  the day at Six Flags with Pocho, yes, I went again this weekend, and saw the other half I had missed. Didin't get on Supermans ride, not just yet.

So far, #georgiapeaches dosen't disappoint me at all! Loving at the south! We finished the night with some cooking, a couple of meat, fruits, salad, potatoes, zuchinni and goat cheese. The dessert of red velvet cake, cheesecake and caramel ice-cream. We had a great feast! Good enought to say good-bye and let Elsita back to Southern Maryland.

Game of Thrones Season Finale and off to bed to finish this awesome weekend. Next weekend, off driving around eight hours to Louisiana, to visit my baby sisters. Can't wait!

Six Flags @ Georgia

It was fun!

But a reminder, don't do exercise the day before. Specially cross-fit. A great workout! But kills you the next day.

I have overcome partially my fears for roller-coasters. Can't over come wooden ones! Batman was my favorite ride so far.

Loved the Country "city" side, great music!

Glad I bought the season pass and the sports bottle. Couldn't see or ride all that I wanted in one day!

Oh, and I wore a batgirl cap and T-shirt like a kid and like a boss!
